Amanda Stark Email & Phone Number | When you look at my resume you will notice that I have two sections for my education. The first section is the most recent and contains my BS in Engineering. The second is my previous area of study, Fine Art. My study of art is the reason I decided to return to school and study engineering. A lot of what I do has been directed by my interest in aerospace. My alma mater did not have aerospace engineering as an area of study so I used the mandatory co-op program as my way of learning about aerospace. Of the required three semesters of work, under qualified engineers, I spent two of them at the Thermal Vacuum Lab at NASA Langley Research Center’s System Integration and Test Branch. During that time I found that the areas of high interest were all addressed. During my non-co-op semesters, I obtained employment as an intern with companies that would allow me to add to my engineering experience. Balancing my work and study schedule came easily to me since I was a non-traditional student. I also discovered that since I was a more mature student the teams that I worked with thought very highly of me and, at times, gave me projects that involved a good deal of responsibility. What I learned has included: • An increase in my ability to quickly learn procedures, standards, and facility hardware/software so that I can easily to assist other co-workers • The ability to problem solve assigned tasks with minimal supervision through research, self-education, and knowing when to seek help • The skills to give presentations about collected data/information and procedural highlights for tests, experiments, and group activities • The ability to work in a group of co-workers with a wide array of education and experience My professors provided me with the foundational knowledge that is needed to be an engineer while my life experiences, including both engineer and non-engineering positions, has given me the experience to know how to apply that knowledge.
