She returned to Washington, D.C. to work at a variety of international non-profits focused on issues of global health and civil society development in sub-Saharan Africa. Amanda is a 2013 recipient of the U.S. State Department Charles B. Rangel Graduate Fellowship, a program that aims to enhance the diversity and excellence of the U.S. Foreign Service. In conjunction with the program, Amanda worked in the office of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid as an assistant to the Senator's national security adviser. She also served as a fellow at U.S. Embassy Monrovia, Liberia at the start of the second Ebola outbreak. Amanda has a Master of Arts in African Studies from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies.
