While browsing college brochures and picking potential majors, I always gravitated towards careers that helped others in some aspect. My career prospects changed for various reasons along the way. I considered being a surgeon, a detective, a nurse, and an attorney. All great careers that help others in one way or another. In the end, I majored in Human Resources Management. A field I chose because I could help employees, in any industry, have a better employment experience. I worked in Human Resources for 7 years, first as a Generalist and then as a Recruiter. I loved doing both. The 2008 recession led to layoffs at my company and my facility was closed. I needed a new job stat. After searching for months on end, I decided I'd take whatever I could whether it was in the HR field or not. Who knew then how much my life would change. Jerry McGuire once said "let me help you". That's my current job in a nutshell, I help others help themselves. As a Contractor Support Specialist, I ensure onsite contractors are compliant with contract terms, conditions, laws, and regulations. This all starts with communication. Together we determine the necessary requirements to secure an effective working relationship. My career has taken a different path, but I still get to do my passion and help others. My specialties include interpreting contracts, policies, and procedures; exercising judgements on unusual issues; handling sensitive information with confidentiality; and communicating with and working well with others. I also fulfill my philanthropy desires through our company's volunteer organization. I dedicate approximately 500 hours per year volunteering for various nonprofit agencies in the Mobile communities. I am grateful to work for a company that values giving back. When I'm not at work, I'm traveling, seeking small adventures, spending quality time with family and friends, reading, and enjoying the latest Hollywood releases.
