Amanda Hanson Email & Phone Number | After years in the food service industry, I realized it was time to further my education and my career. I returned to school to finish my B.S in Psychology and graduated in May 2017. Along the way, the wonderful faculty and advisers at UW- River Falls helped me discover my passion for Human Resources. I really enjoy selection practices and training development. Upon discovering my love for HR, I joined the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). I took on a leadership role in the UW-River Falls chapter in which I organized programming and membership drives. I feverishly studied for and passed the SHRM Assurance of Learning Exam at an Advanced level. I have also had the opportunity of a lifetime to intern with RIver Falls Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Bureau. During my time there, I was able to develop my talents in all aspects of Event Planning. I was given the opportunity to fine tune my organization skills (for people as well as paperwork) and head up our town's fun St. Patrick's Day Celebration. We were able to increase participation in our unique Bed Race competition to the highest number of participants since the event started 7 years prior! My experience with the River Falls Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Bureau lead me to rediscover my passion for event coordinating. I was lucky enough to be hired as an Event Coordinator by Marcus Theatres before graduating college. Unfortunately, the Covid Crisis of 2020 resulted in my position being eliminated at Marcus Theatres. After I was laid off, I found a home at Supportive Living Solutions as their HR Assistant then HR/Recruiting Coordinator. Not only was I able to learn and grow my skills as an HR professional, SLS helped me learn and grow as a person. I truly feel that I am a better mom, wife, friend and co-worker because of the things I learned at SLS. When I'm not busy chasing after my daughter, I enjoy watching sports (SKOL Vikings!) and throwing in a dart league. I am passionate about environmental issues, specially ones that we can impact at a local level. I currently serve on the Board of Directors for the Kinni Corridor Collaborative, a local organization working to improve the quality and preserve the beauty of the local Kinnickinnic River.
