I don't believe in not delivering, and surely not delivering for the sake of delivering (I nudge pixels left-right for 1px.. so it feels right you know?). I get emotionally attached at times - I feel proud when individuals in my team are recognized, I feel emotional when my guys are criticized. However, I remind myself of the deeply etched words of my respected boss and mentor "Always first think with your head, then with your heart." I am learning to be increasingly objective in performance evaluations based on feedback and quantifiable results, and I feel a sense of fulfillment when my team appreciates my efforts in nurturing them. Although I majored in Games Design during my Diploma days, over the years, I've grown from a graphic designer, to a web designer, and today I would call myself a 'Bao-Ka-Liao' (multimedia) designer and leader. My current scope of work covers: - Team Management (team resource and budget management, KPI setting, hiring, team and personal development, team and work processes, man hours and cost estimation for RFQs) - Creative Conceptualization (crafting of proposals for web design RFPs, social media retainers, B2B and B2C creative campaigns; oh and the occasional "Please beautify the deck") - Client Servicing (I do enjoy speaking and collaborating with clients directly, which does yield really great results for the project!) - Art Direction (providing of creative and technical directive to the creative team's work) - Creative Designer (despite leading a team I am still involved in production work to keep my mastery and workmanship polished.
