Alun Irvine Email & Phone Number | I graduated with an honours degree in civil and structural engineering and accepted a training contract with a leading firm of chartered accountants and completed their graduate conversion course before moving into the construction industry. I worked for contractors on site before transferring to a small firm in private practice with whom I completed my training and qualification as a chartered quantity surveyor. When I qualified as a chartered surveyor at the end of 1992 I moved into loss adjusting with a specialist international firm. I was based in Hong Kong and worked throughout Asia dealing with many types of insurance claims while focusing on construction and engineering related losses. I remained in Hong Kong for almost 11 years during which time I qualified as a fellow of the chartered institute of loss adjusters. I moved to Singapore in late 2003 after being promoted to the role of regional director for construction and engineering business. I moved to Grand Cayman to deal with hurricane losses at the start of 2015 and remained there for over a year before returning to London in early 2016. I continued to deal with international claims on a home foreign basis from London until I accepted an offer from a major insurance broker at the start of 2011 to manage their construction claims operations. During this period I was able to pursue my interest in arbitration, completing the examinations and the professional interview leading to qualification as a fellow of the charted institute of arbitrators in December 2015. I returned to loss adjusting and the assessment of insurance claims at the start of 2016 as this was the area in which I considered that I could best utilise my skills and experience in the areas of construction and engineering, quantity surveying and ADR for the benefit of insurers and insured parties. I moved to Scotland at that time having commuted between Glasgow and London for some time before that and remain based in Glasgow at this time. I am currently taking a break from full time employment and considering my options for further employment.
