Alton Everett Email & Phone Number | I have always been fascinated with computers. I learned a great deal about what computers can do and how they work, both on a hardware and software level. I would always wonder how applications were designed and why certain features were added while others weren’t. This led me to my first programming class, where I created a program called “Hello World.” And just like that I was hooked. I have always had a knack for problem solving. Now I found a way to bring my love for computers together with my problem-solving skills. I took all the programming classes that I could find, learning Java, HTML, C++, visual basic, SQL database management, and C. Although I did not have a job in information technology, I was still able to use my skills in visual basics to solve problems at work. I wrote a program called PIM, Plan of Intended Movement. In the Navy when ships depart from one port to the next, they use PIM to track whether they are ahead or behind schedule based on their proposed track. This method was usually done by hand, But I designed an application that would calculate this with a few simple inputs and send the data to a notepad file. I had taken what I learned and made life easier and more efficient. That’s when I knew what I really wanted to do, design programs. This is something that gives me satisfaction and purpose. I am grateful that I was able to find something that I love doing and be able to make a career out of it. There is still much to learn and experience but I am eager and ready to get at it.
