I sought to further my knowledge of the multifaceted field through two years at Elevate Communications. Elevate helped me understand the inner workings of a Public Relations firm specializing in entertainment and hospitality clients, including Foxwoods Resort Casino, MGM Grand at Foxwoods, Big Night Entertainment and The Lyons Group. My time there deepened my understanding of media and client relations, and allowed for the opportunity to get a behind the scenes look at the many responsibilities of the industry. Prior to Elevate Communications, I sought to further my knowledge of the music industry through concert booking at The Harbour Agency. At this firm in Sydney, Australia I worked with the Contracts, Worksheets, and Promotions departments, where I used a Harbour Agency internal application to input data into contracts and other documents/worksheets. In addition I worked closely with promoters, venues and managers where I was tasked with confirming all performance details. What I learned at the Harbour Agency inspired me to start a small independent booking business where I brought the music of local musicians to a venue called Tiki Hideaway in Boston. For the past year and a half I have explored the opportunities offered on the Big Island of Hawaii. This experience led me to work independently for the locally well-known band Leche de Tigre, applying knowledge obtained from Elevate Communications to serve as a liaison between media and artist, specifically for their first tour to the mainland. While assisting with the growth of this self-proclaimed “Latin Gypsy Funk” band, I supplemented this work with building and planning customized itineraries for guests at the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai.
