Alexis Isham Email & Phone Number | As an eighteen year old, I made the bold decision to intern for five different nonprofits in five different countries over the course of a year, delaying college and terrifying my parents. My unswerving resolve to challenge myself and take a gap year radically changed the trajectory of my life, but it wasn’t a personal anomaly. I try to make it a habit to go out on a limb for the things I believe in. From becoming a certified sexual assault crisis line respondent to starting an interfaith dialogue club on Vanderbilt’s campus, I am passionate about maximizing the opportunities I’ve been given for the benefit of others. One such opportunity arose when I was diagnosed with Lyme Disease in the summer of 2016. After taking a medical leave of absence from Vanderbilt, I spent my new-found free time befriending people experiencing homelessness, ultimately leading to my founding a jewelry brand, Resera, that employs and empowers women survivors overcoming homelessness, domestic violence, and addiction. In the four years that I founded and led the company, my co-founder and I grew Resera from a bag of beads to an enterprise that has sold over 30,000 pieces of jewelry, employed 20 women survivors, provided housing for nine employees, secured cars for four employees, and even helped one woman regain custody of her children. In 2024, Resera was acquired by another social enterprise jewelry brand, Yewo, and continues the mission of empowerment and sustainability to this day. Currently, I'm completing a pre-MBA internship with Homeboy Capital, an impact investing firm that creates employment pathways for people who were previously incarcerated and gang-involved. This fall, I'll join the Stanford GSB Class of 2026. Long-term, I hope to pursue a career in impact investing, using business to alleviate poverty and gender-based violence in Sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia. Regardless of my position, my mission is to empower others through collaborative and innovative approaches. I balance strong interpersonal skills with upper-level strategy experience, and I get a thrill out of combining the two to develop unique solutions to pressing problems. I am a natural leader and a quick learner. I value honesty, bravery, and empathy.
