Track and respond to public comments received. • Develop technical resource documents, including mitigation/monitoring plans, abbreviated biological evaluations, and habitat assessments. • Document completed regulatory review and project permitting provisions in a written environmental transmittal to the project manager. • Provide general support to capital development and planning projects through office review of GIS and web-based natural/cultural resource databases, field assessments of critical habitats, and professional level GPS, GIS, and cartographic map production. • Manage environmental consulting contracts for various environmental permitting tasks, including wetland mitigation/monitoring plans and biological evaluations. • Draft and present agency comments on shoreline master program, comprehensive plan, and resource ordinance updates occurring in southwest region counties and local jurisdictions.• Worked with District natural resource staff to develop a conservation plan for a private tree farm operator through the USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service Conservation Technical Assistance Program. • Technical assistance included office and field resource inventories, evaluation of farm practices and resource impacts, advising on natural resource conservation practices, and conservation plan drafting. • Additional opportunities included volunteering with local education and outreach programs related to water quality sampling and nearshore ecology.• Conducted technical research and drafting for natural resource reports, primarily focused on National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) environmental assessment and environmental impact statement documents. • Assisted with public scoping, communication plans, and comment analysis for small and large-scale NEPA and local government projects. • Assisted with NEPA administrative record keeping and database entry. • Provided professional level support to senior planners through independent assignments and as an interdisciplinary team member.• Assisted professors in grading, note taking, and setting up of presentation equipment.
