Alene Larsen is a When I grew up I wanted to be a teacher. I did well in school, enjoyed learning everything, went to college, and got a job teaching kindergarten. I taught kindergarten for 15 years in two school districts and first grade for one year. I got to work with wonderful colleagues who shared my passions and frustrations. I worked with the cutest kids in the school. I planned engaging lessons to get kids excited about learning. (My greatest accomplishment may be when most of my students said math was their favorite thing at school.) I was living the dream. After ten years teaching kindergarten the dream turned more and more into reality, and I started thinking about how I could use my teaching skills beyond the classroom. Math and science are my favorite subjects to teach. I took classes to get a teaching endorsement in STEM in hopes of being a science specialist for a school district. Halfway through the program they stopped teaching classes for the STEM endorsement, so I decided to go a different direction and get a master's degree. I have a passion for planning and designing engaging, research-based learning activities for my students, so I decided to try instructional design. I earned a Master of Education-Instructional Design from Western Governor's University in just under one year. With this degree and my sixteen years experience planning and teaching young children I hope to work with a company who creates high-quality educational materials for instruction in the primary grades.
