Alejandro has been the senior designer and leader in a wide-variety of projects, from the Mega-tall Jeddah Tower in Saudi Arabia to the typologically diverse Astana Expo2017 in Kazakhstan. His built projects include residential, commercial, and cultural typologies ranging from Burj Vista, a two-tower residential complex in Dubai completed in 2018 to Energy Hall and Congress Center, two cultural facilities in Astana completed in 2017 and Al Wasl Plaza, a new type of public space and its adjacent buildings at the heart of the Expo 2020 Dubai site. During his 24 years of experience Alejandro has practiced design opening windows of opportunities where they did not seem to exist. He has lectured, written and published internationally on sustainable design philosophy with topics that include “Form Follows Performance”, “The Challenges of a Supertall Building”, and the design vision and process for many of his buildings. Alejandro led the Al Wasl Plaza project as Design Director. As the centerpiece of the Expo 2020 Dubai, Al Wasl integrates nature with state-of-the-art technology and domed structure providing shade for a garden during the day and creating a a 360 immersive projection experience (the largest in the world of this type) at night. He was also Design Director responsible for extensive Astana Expo City, a significant master planning and its multiple architectural projects for the international exposition of 2017 in Astana. Four years after the event, its legacy configuration is fully materialized and a central piece of its host city life. As AS+GG’s Director of Design he led a significant team for Jeddah Tower, the world’s next tallest building currently under construction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. At over 1,000 meters in height and a total construction area of 530,000 square meters (5.7 million square feet), Jeddah Tower will be the centerpiece and of the Jeddah Economic City development on a 5.3 million-square-meter site in north Jeddah. Before joining CannonDesign, Alejandro was Director of Design at AS+GG, and Senior Designer at Skidmore Owings & Merrill, where he was among many other projects, in the design and development of Burj Khalifa. His experience includes work in the Middle East, Europe, Asia, North America, and his native Argentina
