I started coding in elementary school for the purposes of hacking and modding video games, a passion which took me on a journey to learn from XML syntax to JAVA and C++. With it I've won awards at hackathons with my latest projects like WiPi and WannaHang as well as working on other personal projects. As a Software Engineer at Invoca, I applied my full-stack software engineering skills, writing back-end in Ruby on Rails and Front-end in Javascript using Backbone and React for the most part, using several libraries and frameworks to get the job done. As a Software Engineer at Coverhound & Cyberpolicy, I focused on Frontend engineering, using my skills and expertise to create complex web applications using React & Redux, implementing Jest testing suites across several repositories, optimized Webpack across several apps, as well as creating and maintaining a React Component Library as a private node package. I also refactored our code to improve maintainability, reduce bugs, make it easier to get into context, and most importantly make creating and maintaining features much more fun! Such improvements include: Splitting code by feature not by type, refactor monolithic components into Container/Presentation SFCs with hooks, refactoring redux into ducks, implementing well scoped CSS modules, and implementing robust easy to test Jest suites that focus on integration tests. I am very passionate about writing clean, readable code that my team can easily get into context with. Team is extremely important to me, and I strive for a culture of communication, psychological safety, blamelessness, and trust. Knowing that my teammates strengths cover my weaknesses and I in turn cover theirs with my strengths.
