These areas include working with people who have sustained a brain injury such as at Brightwater or during my practical placement in a neurosurgery area of a hospital. I have worked in aged care as a community support worker and through practical experiences in aged care residential facilities. Being a part of the Younger Onset Dementia Program I have also gained experience in dementia specific care. Mental health is another area I feel I am competent in due to my background in psychology and completion of the neuropsychiatry units in my Masters of Occupational Therapy. Another area is in ergonomics and safety science where I have completed a Graduate Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety as well as completing an occupational therapy practical placement on a gold mine site. With all this experience I have gained skills in conducting specific assessments, implementing occupational therapy strategies and building rapport. I have worked in a multidisciplinary team whilst competent to complete my work independently. I have a passion and drive to continue to improve and expand my skills in the area of occupational therapy to strive towards improving people's wellbeing and promoting their independence.
