Since then I have spent 20 years on numerous sites across the UK and Europe. From offices to factories, from minesweepers to cruise ships, my work has been varied. Using various technologies and techniques for fault finding, predictive maintenance, process issues, heat and energy loss surveys have helped my customers with their reliability, energy saving and compliance for their auditors. I have always been a strong believer in combining the techniques for a better, more conclusive, understanding of plant condition. Thermal imaging, Vibration analysis, Airborne Ultrasonics and Oil Analysis are all part of my daily routines. With full reports given to the customer, failure modes and root causes can be determined and a recheck of all remedial work can be carried out. I have assisted many employees and clients with their development within the condition monitoring sector and have created and been delivering 1 day training and familiarisation courses on the basics of Thermography Chapter 2. Severn Trent Water. Bioresources. Creating the journey from time based maintenance to predictive and preventative maintenance. Concentrating on people, plant and processes and working with different teams within the business to shift away from legacy via small steps. Work task analysis, technical meetings with service contractors, introducing condition monitoring to sites, planning reviews, critical spares, upskilling ops and maintainers, asset critcality, updating standards, trialling and introducing new technology and new ways of working have all been started within the first year and will be developed going forward. Some of which will be used for the whole of STW business for our next 5 year plan.
