After working as an engineer in the UK, I spent 20 years in Africa: In Zimbabwe I helped start a company that hired out machine tools to artisans and trained them to build and sell a wide range of value-adding equipment. In Ghana as Country Director for EnterpriseWorks, established a USAID-funded project introducing irrigation pumps, fuel-efficient cooking stoves, wind turbines and water filters. I continue to provide technical consultancies to NGOs. As owner of www.yellowfieldsoil.com I press my own brand of rapeseed oil, marketing it as a local alternative to olive oil (www.rapeseedoil.co.uk). I also source and modify equipment and offer consultancy services to those wishing to open their own oil-pressing facilities; I sell presses, filters, bottling lines and other equipment (www.yellowfieldsoil.com and www.seed2oil.com). I have assisted 35 new oil producers across the UK, and have sold presses to clients in Europe, Africa, New Zealand, and America pressing seeds such as chia, hazelnut, sunflower, linseed, mustard seed, walnut, moringa, raspberry.
