He was very instrumental in setting up all Duro-Last facilities throughout the country and has overseen most of all new building projects that Duro-Last has invested in to date. Al is a Master Electrician; licensed with the state of Michigan and holds two US Patents for flashing details for the roofing industry. He is an active board member of the Single Ply Roofing Industry (SPRI) in which he was the President of in the years 2010-2011, Treasurer for 2008-2009, and the chair of the Technical committee in 2007- 2008. He currently chairs the Member Services Committee. Al is a member and also active on the technical committee for the Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC) and is a member of the Special Interest Group for the Dynamic Evaluation of Roofing Systems (SIGDERS) – Phase V, VI, VII &VIII this work is carried out with The National Research Council Canada (NRC). Al is also an affiliate member of RICOWI (Roofing Industry Committee on Weather Issues) in 2020 became a board member representing CFFA (Chemical Fabrics & Film Association) and has been elected vice-chair. Al was recently elected in 2023 to chair of the vinyl roofing Division of CFFA. In addition, Al is also a member of, NFPA, ICC, IIBEC, and ASCE.
