Soon after completing my B.com (hons) from St. Xavier’s college (Kolkata), I joined the world’s biggest tea auctioneer company called J Thomas & Co. Pvt. Ltd. Although, my primary job involved effectively tracking my competitors and focusing on potential business opportunities while maintaining long term client relationships, I learnt to taste tea. Did you know Darjeeling tea is considered the ‘champagne of teas’ for its natural flavors such as muscatel that cannot be replicated anywhere? Learning has always been more important than the scorecard to me. I did not just graduate from Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Bengaluru with an MBA degree. I graduated learning to multitask, how to solve problems quick and efficiently and that everything one wants to find is in some book. Right after SIBM, I was working as an Area Manager with Aditya Birla Capital. Although, I worked for HDFC Branch Banking Channel focusing on increasing the mindshare of the company, I learnt about managing a team. I learnt it is important to not only recognize achievements, but also the efforts behind it. My next stop was Goodwyn Tea. In my journey of rising to ‘Acting HORECA Head’ from a Senior Key Account Manager, I learnt about time management. Juggling between departments, be that focusing on sales, recruitment, customer relationship management (CRM), lead generation and a lot more, I learnt to efficiently execute every single task with a simple trick of scheduling and time management. I’m quick at learning, excellent with people and dedicated enough to turn anything around.
