Ainhoa Nieto Gutirrez is a I have dedicated over 10 years to investigating the molecular mechanisms underlying the regulation, trafficking, and activation of GPCRs. Most recently, my research has been focused on GPCRs involved in metabolic disorders and cancer. My expertise lies in small molecule drug discovery and drug mechanism of action studies with special emphasis in project management and assay development. As my career has progressed, I have also gained a significant amount of mentorship experience by managing many trainees and students as they have joined the lab. I am passionate about utilizing GPCRs as novel, tractable therapeutic targets for multiples disease states, develop selective molecular probes of these targets and, where possible, optimize the probes to generate in vivo lead molecules for pre-clinical evaluation and ultimately translating these findings into clinical trials.
