Afric CrossanWale Email & Phone Number | Beginning my career in Marketing, I retrained and moved into Education in the late 1990s. I was a founder of Forest Schools Birmingham in 2004, a Non Profit focused on Environmental Education and the Mental Health of our communities, children and schools. At the helm of this business, and in addition to our contracted school intervention services, we have been awarded over 2 Million of funding from funding bodies and CSR, over 15 years, to support our community work. As Project Developer and Director, I was invited to Downing Street in recognition of the societal change we were envisaging in our community, and while leading FSB, we have been awarded 9 honours including Community Business of the Year, Birmingham's Greenest Business and Non-Profit of the year. I have worked with and in partnership with 1000s of schools during my career, with Birmingham City Council and have sat on steering and consultative panels with many 3rd sector leaders and local politicians in Birmingham and the surrounding areas. As part of my work in driving though environmental and community change in Birmingham and the surrounding area, I have also sat on boards and established other businesses, charities and community groups including: - Kingstanding Regeneration Trust (Chair and Director) - Founder and Director of Kingstanding Food Community (this ran for 10 years and twice won Birmingham's Best Community Food Project) - Director Outdoor Learning Ltd - Wild on Wyrley (Chair/Trustee) - Friends of Edmonton Allotments (Chair) - Friends of The Velvet Orchard (Chair/Trustee) - Friends of Witton Lakes (Trustee) Within my role, I lead as trainer of Educators in respect to therapeutic Mental Health strategies, Forest School and Outdoor Learning, on our privately owned nature reserve. As a result of this, I work with 50+ teachers and head teachers annually to assist them in shaping their Outdoor Engagement and Mental Health strategies. In a different aspect of my career, I am committed to working with people to help them to find strength, perspective, emotional and mental health healing and a strong sense of well-being using self grounding and team cohesion techniques while using Nature as a therapeutic tool. I went on to assist in the founding, structuring and running of Wild Women Retreats. I have been working with groups of people, for 15 years +, holding space to help them to transform their state of well-being and mental health. This is something that I am passionate about, as I believe that we are amidst a mental health pandemic that is largely unrecognised.
