Playing basketball for the first time at 12 years old, I was terrible. After tryouts for my 7th grade basketball team the coach pulled me aside. I hadn't made it on any of the teams. So, I asked if I could at least watch practices. "Sure", he said, "but you won't be allowed to practice." So I watched practices and drilled on my own hours everyday. For 8th grade I tried out again and made the "C" team. I continued to practice on my own many hours a day. Even though I was bad at it, it was all I wanted to do. My freshman year I tried out for the high school team. The head coach after tryouts said he had noticed me back in 7th grade watching the practices and had attended the middle school tryouts. He was surprised at my persistence and wanted to give me a chance on the freshman team. I improved rapidly during the preseason and before regular season started I had been promoted to the varsity team. Two years after this, my junior year, my team won the Texas 4A state championship by rising above 186 other teams. This is a precious story for me. I learned I can do hard things. I have repeated this pattern multiple times now. I taught myself 3D animation and made it into Walt Disney Animation Studio. Also, I improve my skills in computer science where I have been promoted to the lead role of quality assurance for Neovest, a subsidiary of JP Morgan Chase. This was an exceptionally difficult challenge as my natural gifts lean towards visual arts. This accomplishment enables me to incorporate both creative and logical skills. I believe I am an uniquely capable creative problem solver. I will continue to persistently progress, after 30+ years of living this way it is all I know.
