  Abul Azad is a M. Abul Kalam Azad is working as a graduate research assistant in the Natural Resources Institute (NRI) at the University of Manitoba. He is currently working on the project entitled ‘Scaling up Climate Change Adaptation Knowledge and Technologies for Enhancing Social Equity and Disaster Resilience in Bangladesh’ funded by the IDRC. Mr. Azad is also pursuing his Ph.D. in Natural Resources and Environmental Management at the Natural Resources Institute, University of Manitoba. Prior to starting his doctoral program, he has completed a master’s degree in Natural Resources Management (MNRM) from the University of Manitoba, Canada in 2020. His master’s research explored the role of social learning in recovery and community Resilience to flash floods in Bangladesh. Mr. Azad also received his B.S.S. and M.S.S. in Sociology from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Mr. Azad has extensive experience in disaster management, social learning, climate change adaptation, climate justice and social equity, disaster risk reduction, community resilience, gender and vulnerability, development and disaster, health, and social policy. His doctoral research is mainly exploring how climate change is creating differential impacts and the role of climate-resilient agricultural technologies in ensuring social and gender equity in the Wetland of Bangladesh. Mr. Azad has more than fourteen national and international peer-reviewed research publications pertinent to community resilience and disaster risk reduction. Mr. Azad is now on study leave for his higher study. He, indeed, is a faculty member of the Institute of Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies (IDMVS), University of Dhaka (DU), Bangladesh. Prior to joining as a faculty member at IDMVS, DU in 2013, he also worked as a lecturer in the Department of Sociology at the Jagannath University, Bangladesh.
