She has also recently begun working as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Rockefeller Institute of Government in Albany, NY on various State policy projects and initiatives. In June 2019, she joined Capital Health Consulting (CHC) as the Government Affairs & Health Policy Associate. At CHC, she brought expertise in research and advocacy and worked with clients in the health and human services arena. Prior to joining CHC, Abbie advocated for the “Green Light NY: Driving Together,” through the New York State Immigration Coalition to improve transportation for individuals working on dairy, fruit, and vegetable farms in order to get better access to health care. In 2018, she assisted in HIV/STD patient fieldwork while at the Communicable Disease Division in the New York State Department of Health in Syracuse, NY. In this role, she worked with Epidemiologists and Community Health Workers to advocate for HIV/STD treatment options and help patients get the care they need. Aside from her studies at SUNY Albany, Abbie teaches Adult Ballet classes at Albany Dance & Fitness in Albany, NY, and serves as a Board Member at Large for the Capital District Dance Alliance. The Alliance is currently working on a project which will allow individuals in Assisted Living Facilities, Nursing Homes, and other Residential Health Care facilities to have access to virtual dance classes. Prior to moving to the Capital Region, Abbie graduated Magna Cum Laude from the State University of New York at Geneseo with a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology (on a Medical Anthropology Track). She also holds minors in the Socio Medical Sciences (SMS) and Dance Studies.
