The ever evolving world of software development, drove me to it. I am always trying to learn and apply my learnings at work. I started out with developing android/IOS front-end development to working on various communication protocols (WIFI, Bluetooth, ZigBee) for home automation and media sharing, then machine learning for IOT. This inspired me to pursue a Masters in Machine Learning. Summer of 2016, was the year blockchain really took, i got caught up in this blockchain frenzy, which resulted in a fruitful internship at IBM Research. I designed complex communication protocols supporting end-to-end encryption, that enabled secure transactions between remote off-the-grid IOT devices and blockchain nodes, in trusted and untrusted environments. This eventually resulted in my move to IBM food Trust. IBM food trust, was IBM's biggest bet on blockchain. I was lucky enough to join this project at an early stage, getting to learn a lot about blockchain and big data, from subject matter experts in the team. I built my core strengths in distributed computing, various Big Data tools (Scala, Apache Spark, Cassandra, Elastic Search, Redis, Express, TS) here. There were late night data and code weeding sessions to weed out edge cases that killed our algorithms, multiple failed attempts at performance tuning, picking up tuning as a challenge when everyone thought we hit a plateau, were some of my memorable experiences with this team. Scaling a terabyte production ready system from ground up from POC stage, while helping build a team around it was a very satisfying experience.
