  Aakriti Adhikari is a I am a PhD student working as a Graduate Research Assistant under Dr. Sanjib Sur at the SyreX Lab in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at the University of South Carolina (UofSC). My research interests include Digital Health, Wireless and Mobile Systems, and Machine Learning. I work with a multi-sensor platform that integrates wireless devices, vision cameras, and IMU sensors, allowing me to gain a deeper understanding of computer vision and signal processing techniques. I am particularly passionate about integrating healthcare and technology to create a 'smart' future. This vision includes continuous health monitoring, early detection of potential health issues, and personalized care, ultimately enhancing the quality of care and well-being for diverse populations, especially the elderly and those with chronic conditions, at an affordable cost. My current research successfully demonstrates that ubiquitous networking devices operating at high frequencies can be augmented with intelligence to overcome fundamental challenges to enable contactless sensing. We show fine-grained applications in posture estimation, sleep monitoring, vital sign monitoring, and lung function monitoring. At @SyreXLab, we are working closely with medical professionals to explore the real-world applicability of our research in stroke patients. Before joining UofSC, I worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Toledo, Ohio with a research specialization in Computer Vision.
